UKZN Scoops MACE Excellence Awards
The University of KwaZulu-Natal clinched MACE Excellence Marketing Awards at the recent MACE Marketing, Advancement and Communication in Education (MACE) Conference in Cape Town.
The MACE Excellence Awards takes place annually, and recognises and celebrates excellence and achievements of specialists and practitioners in marketing, advancement and communication in the Higher-Education sector.
UKZN walked away with a Bronze Award of Excellence for its 2017 UKZNTOUCH alumni magazine in the External Printed Magazines and Newsletters category of Division 2: Media; a Bronze Award of Excellence for its 2016 Annual Report in the Printed and Digital Annual Reports category of Division 2: Media; as well as a Bronze Award of Excellence for its INSPIRE- ENTREPRENEURSHIP SKILLS PROGRAMME in the Brand-building Campaigns category of Division 1: Campaigns.
‘Our Corporate Relations Division Team have brought great pride to the University by bringing home several MACE awards on different categories which speak to the calibre of the excellent work done by the team and UKZN as a whole,’ said Professor Nana Poku, UKZN Vice-Chancellor and Principal (Acting).
‘The MACE Awards pits all South African universities and other Higher Education Institutions against each other and our triumph bears testament to the excellence that we as UKZN aspire to continuously achieve. While we may have won MACE awards this year as well as in previous years, it by no means imply that the Division must rest on its laurels. Success is not a destination but a continuous journey so we are expecting more awards next year. Nonetheless, well done to the team (CRD and the College PR teams) for continuing to make us proud,’ said Poku.
Ms Normah Zondo, Corporate Relations Division (CRD) Executive Director (Acting) was equally satisfied with the accolades, attributing the awards to great team-work, the Division’s excellent work ethic as well as the dedication of its staff. ‘Getting a MACE award is always satisfying because it serves as tangible evidence that what you are doing is effective. We still have much to do as a Division, but we clearly are on the right track. I thank the CRD team as well as the entire University community in supporting us in our core business of PR, marketing and communications for UKZN,’ she said.
